About

Richard D. “Dick” Singer was born and raised in Philadelphia. He graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.

Dick has worked in sales and marketing both locally and nationally in the television industry. He was the East Coast Area Vice President for Telerep Inc., the national sales arm for COX Television, overseeing five sales offices.

Eventually moving to Telerep’s New York headquarters, Dick was named Vice President and General Sales Manager, with full responsibility for all national revenue for 10 major market TV stations. In this position he had 17 offices reporting to him including New York.

Dick left Telerep to become a General Partner in Regency Communications LTD, a company he formed to acquire small to medium market radio stations. Dick was involved in raising capital, targeting markets, negotiating the terms for each station, and for the overall operations of a group of stations he helped assemble.

Upon selling the company, Dick was recruited by K R Video, a division of former newspaper giant Knight-Ridder Inc, as Director of Sales and Marketing. In this capacity he worked on the development of radio and TV programs for the company. Working with The Miami Herald he developed a Spanish language daily radio news program that was based on Knight-Ridder’s El Nuevo Herald newspaper.

After four years with Knight-Ridder, Dick went to work for USA Networks as Director of Sales and Marketing for a start-up television station in Miami. He was responsible for building the entire sales department at the station, which debuted with ten hours of original, locally produced daily programming.

In 1999, Sinclair Broadcasting brought Dick to Pittsburgh as Regional Manager / General Manager of FOX 53 and WB 22 television stations. In addition, Sinclair assigned him responsibility for ABC and FOX affiliates in Charleston / Huntington West Virginia and a FOX affiliate in Madison Wisconsin.

Early in 2002, Dick launched RDS Associates, working as a coach and mentor to CEOs and senior executives.  As part of this business he contracted to become a “Group Chair” for VISTAGE International (formerly TEC) in 2003.  VISTAGE is the World’s leading CEO membership organization. It brings CEOs together in non-competitive groups to help each other work through their top-level issues, for the purpose of creating Better Leaders who make Better Decisions and get Better Results.  Dick facilitates these meetings and also serves as a personal coach and mentor in these exclusive relationships, enhancing both the personal and professional lives of industry leaders.

Dick is a facilitator for The University of Pittsburgh, Katz Graduate School of Business, Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence.  In that capacity he facilitates roundtable discussions, throughout the year, for entrepreneurs who are alumni of that program.

Dick also is available for speaking engagements.  His talk on “Self Limiting Beliefs” has been enthusiastically received.
